Well it's July and at MSEC that means our Annual Benefit Update conferences in Colorado Springs, Ft. Collins, Denver and Grand Junction.

We currently have 450 member companies enrolled and we still have 2 more conferences to go.

Colorado Springs members loved the conference and our keynotes were again favorites.  Ft. Collins is going on today and Denver will be this Friday at the Hilton Convention Center.

Chad Larsen with Moreton Retirement Partners is kicking off each conference and discussing how organizations need to be looking at their company retirement plans.

Bill Lindsay with Lockton Companies is our afternoon keynote speaker discussing HealthCare Reform and the impact of the new law on employers.

Don't miss this year's conference so that you can stay upto date and informed.

GROUNDBREAKING HEALTH PLAN FOR COLORADO SMALL AND MID-SIZED COMPANIES UNVEILED DURING TELE-NEWS CONFERENCE

UnitedHealthcare and Mountain States Employers Council Announce Innovative Health Plan that Encourages Healthy Habits for Colorado Businesses and their Workforces

DENVER (July 8, 2010)UnitedHealthcare and Mountain States Employers Council today announced during a tele-news conference the launch of HealthSource Colorado, a groundbreaking health plan. HealthSource Colorado includes a suite of wellness programs designed to help the state’s small to mid-sized businesses better control health care costs and improve employee health.

The tele-news conference featured a panel of health care experts and focused on the launch of HealthSource Colorado, which is among the first offerings in Colorado that enables small to mid-sized employers and their employees to earn financial incentives through a corporate wellness program.  The plan takes advantage of a new state law that allows insurance carriers to offer financial incentives to small businesses whose employees participate in wellness-related programs.

HealthSource Colorado is now available to more than 2,700 companies in Colorado who are members of Mountain States Employers Council.  Companies with one to 300 employees are eligible for the plan by joining the Mountain States Employers Council.

We are very excited to launch this new product.  If you are interested tell your broker that you would like to hear about the UHC MSEC plans or contact Kelly Esselman at 303.223.5359.

July 4th, our Nation's Birthday
The 4th of July is one of my favorite holidays.  It's a great excuse to be outside, spend time with family and or friends and eat food that is so summer.  It is also a time to thank all the people that protect our great nation.

Everyone has plans for the 4th of July and looks forward to a three day weekend.

This year I will be watching our very own Colorado Rockies play the San Francisco Giants on July 4th.  Watching baseball on July 4th is about as American as it gets!

Enjoy your holiday and whatever you do, be safe!

Achievement Awards
How exciting when I get to talk about company's that get recognized by their peers and other agencies.  Boulder County just won the 2010 National Association of Counties (NACo) Award for their Leadership Academy.

The NACo award picks an innovative program that stood out from all the nominees.  Applications are not judged against one another for an Achievement Award.  Instead they are judged based on their own merits according to the criteria outlined in the application.  After reviewing all the applications in a category, the judges may pick one or two innovative programs that stood out from the rest.  Best of Category awards may not be awarded in all categories.  These prorams are awarded a Best of Category Award in addition to the Achievement Award.

So congratulations to Boulder County and our own Organizational Development and Learning department for working with Boulder County.

Employee Recognition Programs
Many employers have found other ways of recognizing their employees other than monitarily.  This is all part of the company's total rewards program and is a very successful and cost effective way to reward your employees by recognizing them.

Here at MSEC we have established a recognition program for our employees called "Workplace Matters!".  Another employee or member of management will recognize the employee and then every month the recognized employees get sunflowers delivered to their office.  Each quarter a committee of the employees and managers decides on the employee that went above and beyond and then that employee is given a gift.

I am very excited that I was a recipient of sunflowers today, so in my humble opinion, I think it is a great program :).

Let me know what you are doing at your organizations!

Springtime in Colorado
I love springtime in Colorado because it means that summer is on the way.  Everything is budding and turning green and of course we need water to do that, but I have to admit I am tired of the snow.

Let's hope that the weather people are wrong and we will not have a "winter storm warning" for the front range tomorrow, May 12th, but just in case we have cancelled the Mountain Hour in Colorado Springs.

Guess we will have to have a summer Mountain Hour in the Springs :).
